Condolences over the fire at Notre Dame Cathedral
We are saddened by
the numerous images of the beautiful Notre Dame
Cathedral of France engulfed in a treacherous fire. We thank God no
lives were lost, nor were there any major injuries as a result of the
fire. Thank God, this gothic Cathedral has been spared from complete
destruction, and the sacred relics housed in this sacred place,
including a piece of the true cross of our Lord, were also saved.
As we immerse ourselves prayer and fasting during this Holy Week, let
us remember the nation of France. This is not merely an iconic
building for this nation, but a sacred place of worship, where
millions have shed their tears in repentance and thanksgiving to God.
There is no doubt, this towering Cathedral will stand again, as a
testimony to Jesus Christ, and to the faith of all people.
- Metropolitan Zachariah Mar Nicholovos
