Statement Regarding the Death of George Floyd
We as a church community, grieve over the tragic death of George Floyd. His death is met with a great sense of outrage, and anger, by all who love justice. The death of Mr. Floyd has opened up many wounds, especially the reality of racism which is still rampant in our society today.
The clergy and faithful of the Northeast American Diocese, offer our prayers for George Floyd, and for all who grieve. We also pray for the people of Minneapolis as they attempt to seek healing from the pain of such wounds. We pray that the civil leaders will have the courage to act upon such injustices happening in this city, and the nation as a whole.
Let us pray that our Lord will empower us with His Spirit to speak out against all types of injustice, violence, gossip, and slander. May we all become vehicles to convert our brothers and sisters to the knowledge of love, compassion, and justice.
