New Diocesan Metropolitan Received by Faithful

His Grace Zachariah Mar Nicholovos, the newly appointed Diocesan Metropolitan of the Northeast American Diocese, was received at John F. Kennedy International Airport, on Friday, March 11, 2011.

More than one hundred people gathered at the terminal to receive their new Shepherd in Christ. His Grace Mathews Mar Barnabas, the former Metropolitan of the Diocese, received his successor with a warm embrace and garlanded him with flowers. Following the reception at the airport, the Metropolitan was taken to the Diocesan Center in Muttontown, where His Grace was received by more clergy and faithful who were patiently awaiting the arrival of their new Shepherd with ceremonial umbrellas, lit candles and flowers. His Grace Zachariah Mar Nicholovos offered prayers of incense to the Mother of God and the Saints at Diocesan Chapel.

A public meeting, felicitating the new Metropolitan was held under the leadership of Rev. Fr. John Thomas, the Diocesan Secretary. Representatives from all spiritual organizations of the Diocese spoke on the occasion.

Clergy and faithful as far as Canada and Boston participated in the reception of the Diocesan Metropolitan.
