Fr. Igumen Sergius, Abbot of St. Tikhon’s, to speak at the 2010 Family and Youth Conference
The Family & Youth Conference Committee is pleased to announce the second main speaker for this year's conference - Fr. Igumen Serguis.
About Main Speaker
Fr. Serguis, originally from California is a convert to Holy Orthodoxy and a graduate of St. Tikhon's Orthodox Theological Seminary. Fr. Serguis sought solace in the monastic life of the Orthodox Church by being tonsured as a monk of St. Tikhon's Orthodox Monastery in South Canaan, Pennsylvania - the first Orthodox Christian Monastery in North America.
Aside from his duties as a monk, Fr. Serguis dedicated much of his service to the training of the future priests of the Holy Orthodox Church in North America by serving as the lecturer in liturgical music, one of his many fortes. After many years of prayerful service as a humble monk, Fr. Serguis was ordained to the Holy Diaconate and to the Holy Priesthood in December 2009, by His Beatitude Metropolitan Jonah, Primate of the Orthodox Church in America.
In January of 2010, Fr. Igumen Serguis was installed as the 16th Abbot of the Monastery of St. Tikhon's, by His Beatitude Metropolitan Jonah, in the presence of other Hierarchs, clergy, monastics and faithful Orthodox Christians.
The Northeast American Diocese looks forward to to being spiritually inspired by the prayerful and esteemed presence of His Grace Dr. Joseph Mar Dionysius and Fr. Igumen Serguis, the main speakers for the Family & Youth Conference 2010.
