2011 Staten Island/Central Jersey MGOCSM Oriental Orthodox Spiritual Day
The 3rd annual Oriental Orthodox Spiritual Day was observed by the MGOCSM of Staten Island/Central Jersey on September 24, 2011 at St. George Orthodox Church - 75 Cedar Grove Avenue Staten Island, NY. The conference was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Alex K. Joy, Vicar of St. George Orthodox Church, Rev. Dn. Sujit Thomas was the main speaker of the conference, while Rev. Dn. Vijay Thomas, General Secretary of MGOCSM North America, was also present on the occasion.
Theme of the year was taken from Joshua 1:9, "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." A committee under the leadership of Ms. Jeena Thomas, MGOCSM Council Member for the Staten Island/Central Jersey area, worked hard for the success of this conference.
"Through networking, fellowship, and workshops, we were able explore more on our fellow brothers and sisters. The Oriental Orthodox Youth Conference was really a memorable experience," said one of the participants. Many youth from many Oriental Orthodox churches in the area attended this conference.
