New York Classical Music Concert held on Sunday, May 13, 2012
A Classical Music Concert was held on Sunday, May 13, 2012 in New York, which featured Rev. Fr. Dr M. P. George, the Director of the Sruthi School of Liturgical Music in Kottayam. Achen is known for his contribution as a Professor of Musical studies at the Theological Seminary in Kottayam. Achen is a professionally trained Musician who earned his PhD in the study of Syriac liturgical music.
The musical program was conducted in New York under the auspices of the Council of Indian Orthodox Churches in the Queens/Brooklyn/Long Island area, which is the united front of the nine Orthodox parishes in the area. The concert was organized with the goal of raising funds to build a Students' Hostel in the Theological seminary at Kottayam, as a memorial to His Grace Geevarghese Mar Osthathios Metropolitan of blessed memory.
His Grace Zachariah Mar Nicholovos, Metropolitan of the Northeast American Diocese, inaugurated the musical program by lighting a lamp.
