Bishop Tawadrous selected as Pope of the Coptic Orthodox Church

On Sunday, November 4, 2012, thousands of people crowded St. Mark's Cathedral , as they witnessed the end of a nine month process to select the successor to His Holiness Pope Sheouda III who passed away in March 2012.

The faithful of the Coptic Orthodox Church offered their tears of thanksgiving to God as His Grace, Bishop Tawadrous was selected in an altar ballot during the liturgical service. The Rite of Enthronement for the new Pope and Patriarch will be held on Sunday, November 18, at the Cathedral of St. Mark.

His Grace Zachariah Mar Nicholovos, Metropolitan, along with the clergy and faithful of the Northeast American Diocese, join His Grace Bishop David, the clergy, and faithful of the Coptic Orthodox Archdiocese of North America, as we proclaim OXIOS to the newly selected Pope of our beloved sister Church, the Coptic Orthodox Church.

May God strengthen the Coptic Orthodox Church, and grant sufficient wisdom, strength, and grace to Bishop Tawadrous as His Grace is enthroned as the Pope of the Coptic Church.
