Metropolitan participates in Prayer for Slain Coptic Christians

On the evening of Sunday, April 21, 2013, a large crowd of faithful seeking justice and peace, filled St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York, New York, as they condemned the acts of violence in Cairo, Egypt.

Our Diocesan Metropolitan, His Grace Zachariah Mar Nicholovos, led a delegation of clergy and faithful of the Northeast American Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, to express our solidarity and support to our sister church, the Coptic Orthodox Church, as it fights for justice and peace in Egypt.

His Grace Zachariah Mar Nicholovos, in his speech addressing the packed Cathedral, shared to His Grace Bishop David, General Bishop of the Coptic Orthodox Archdiocese of North America, and faithful gathered, "We, the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, stands firm with our sister Church, the Coptic Orthodox Church, in seeking justice and peace."

Our Metropolitan conveyed the prayers and love of His Holiness the Catholicos of the East, and Fathers of the Holy Synod as well.

The Metropolitan of the Northeast American Diocese, issued a memo from the Diocesan Chancery in Muttonotown, New York, to the clergy and faithful earlier in the week.  In the memo His Grace not only condemned the acts of violence in Cairo, Egypt and in Boston, Massachusetts, but also sought that all people must prayerfully stand with the Coptic Church, and our Nation, that peace and justice may prevail over acts of hatred.
