Marth Mariam Samajam Leadership Training Program

The Northeast American Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Church has been conducting Leadership Training Programs since 2010 under the auspices of the Marth Mariam Samajam. The Leadership Training Program associated with ‘Divyabodhanam’ classes held this year went extremely well at two locations, the Diocesan Headquarters at Muttontown, New York and St. Mary’s Church in Linden for the region comprising of New Jersey and Staten Island. A total number of 95 persons participated at both locations with 64 in four batches at Muttontown and 31 in one batch at Linden St. Mary’s. Specially worth mentioning is the fact that His Grace Zachariah Mor Nicholovos, the Diocesan Metropolitan, himself conducted the concluding sessions at both locations and blessed the occasions with his esteemed presence.

The successful completion of the programs was also due to the able leadership provided by Rev. Fr. T.A. Thomas, a veteran teacher who has many years of teaching experience to his credit and the dedicated young leaders of our diocese namely Rev. Fr. Sujit Thomas, Rev. Dn. Abey Abraham and Ms. Ceena Varghese. All of them were thoroughly prepared on the subject matter they dealt with and their classes were excellent. The participants were especially happy because they provided the participants with a wealth of information coupled with practical applications for individuals designed to promote their spiritual edification. Their valuable contributions to the success of the program are gratefully acknowledged.

The coordinators and the clergy are seriously thinking of extending the program to other regions in the future. Arrangements for expanding the program to other regions are being made with the help and behind-the-scenes encouragement of its committee.

His Grace Zachariah Mor Nicholovos will award the certificates to all those who participated in the program this year at the Annual Conference of the Marth Mariam Samajam to be held on October 19, 2013.

Local charity works are actively organized by its coordinator, Dr. Ammu Paulose, in all regions. Retreats and Bible classes are also organized in several regions by the coordinators in the months of August in association with the Feast of Dormition of St. Mary and of September in association with the Feast of the Nativity of Theotokos. In general, Marth Mariam Samajam of the Northeast American Diocese has been very active this year.
