2014 MGOCSM Northeast Council Weekend Recap

The MGOCSM Council of the Northeast American Diocese met this past weekend from December 27th to December 29th to set the vision and kick off the 2014 year of their term as MGOCSM Council Members. The meeting was presided over by His Grace Zachariah Mar Nicholovos (Diocesan Metropolitan and President of MGOCSM of the Northeast American Diocese). Additionally, Rev. Fr. V. M. Shibu (Diocesan MGOCSM Vice President), Rev. Fr. Vijay Abraham Thomas (MGOCSM New Jersey/Staten Island Area Spiritual Director), Rev. Fr. Tenny Timothy Thomas (Diocesan MGOCSM Campus Ministry Spiritual Director), Mr. Manoj Varghese (Diocesan MGOCSM General Secretary), Ms. Lincy Thottathil (Diocesan MGOCSM General Treasurer), and Ms. Jeena Thomas (Diocesan MGOCSM Joint-Secretary) were also present at the meeting.

The 2013 theme of MGOCSM of the Northeast American Diocese, "Ignite the Fire", reached new ministerial heights through the diligent efforts of the Philadelphia Leadership Camp 2013 Committee, the MGOCSM Missions Board, the MGOCSM Council Members, the Area Committee Members, the Spiritual Directors, and the MGOCSM parish members, and many other clergy and faithful. After reflecting on the various endeavors and lessons learned by the Diocesan MGOCSM Council Members, the Council decided its 2014 theme would be adapted from the 2014 California Leadership Camp theme of "Integrate Christ".

Rev. Fr. Vijay Abraham Thomas led a workshop for the Council Members and visiting Area Committee Members on the "5 Smooth Stones of Leadership", which taught the participants great lessons in Purpose, Objectives, Vision, Communication, Delegation through this training. The Council Members and Area Committee members further agreed on the need and benefits of continual leadership training and development for the various leaders throughout our Diocesan MGOCSM.

Additionally our Council Members discussed the prospect of various new and existing initiatives and projects including: Leadership Camp, International Missions, Local Missions Projects, College Ministry, the Orthodox College Summit, Diocesan Sports Tournament, Thanksgiving Conference, Lenten Retreats, the formation of an Alumni Network, and many more. It was decided that the 2015 North American Leadership Camp for MGOCSM would be hosted by the Northeast American Diocese. As our Diocesan MGOCSM continues to grow and build a solid foundation, our leaders must continue to be built on the solid foundation our Church has provided and "Integrate Christ" into their daily lives.

The council requests that all MGOCSM units within the Northeast American Diocese join them in this mission to "Integrate Christ." Please continue to keep the MGOCSM within your thoughts and prayers.
