MGOCSM College Ministry Welcome Letter

“Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life.” Philippians 2:14-16

Dear Friends,

Wish you all a wonderful and blessed New Year. I want to take this opportunity to welcome you all to a new semester in your academic life. The Campus Ministry Team of the Diocese has decided to bring out a Newsletter to effectively reach out to the college and university students in the Northeast American Diocese with the message of Jesus Christ. This Newsletter hopes to provide new information, ideas, spiritual materials, and establish communication and cooperation between campus ministries in our Diocese.

St. Luke the Evangelist in the Gospel, chapter 2:52 says – “And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature, and in favor with God and man.” Christ himself matured physically, mentally, spiritually, and socially. So how much more important is it, for each and every one of us to develop and mature physically, mentally, spiritually, and socially. We cannot afford to miss any of the above-mentioned aspect in our total development.

I know college and university life involves routinely making major decisions about how the rest of your lives must be. Our mission is to help you, support you and pray for you. We also want Campus Ministry to provide a communion of Orthodox Christian faith, hope, and love, offering a spiritual home to all college and university students. In colleges and universities BEING an Indian and Orthodox Christian is considered a minority among minorities. Through prayer and support, outreach and service, fellowship and fun, Campus Ministry hopes to provide a faith family you can be at home with when you are away from home. Hope this Newsletter will be for the glory of God and the building up of His Kingdom in this world.

Let us recommit ourselves to the One True God in Three Persons – the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit – and the one true Church. In the New Year ahead, let us pledge to learn our faith ever more seriously, love our faith ever more deeply, live our faith ever more openly, and share our faith ever more boldly. To God be all glory, honor, and worship forever and ever unto the ages of ages! Amen.

With love in Christ,

Timothy Achen
