Metropolitan to participate in the Enthronement of Metropolitan Joseph

His Grace Zachariah Mar Nicholovos, Metropolitan of the Northeast American Diocese will represent the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, at the enthronement of His Eminence, Metropolitan Joseph.

Metropolitan Joseph, will be enthroned as the ruling Metropolitan of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church of North America, at Saint Nicholas Cathedral on Saturday, December 6, 2014.

The Rite of Enthronement will be presided by His Beatitude, Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East.

The Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America, belongs to the Holy See of Antioch (Eastern Orthodox Church). The Archdiocese includes nine dioceses spanning the North American continent, overseen by nine bishops in addition to Metropolitan Joseph. His Eminence now leads the entire Antiochian Archdiocese, with nine bishops, over 400 clergy, and 266 parishes and missions throughout the United States and Canada.

The Antiochian Archdiocese was led for over forty years by His Eminence Metropolitan Philip Saliba, prior to his falling asleep in Christ on March 19, 2014. After his repose, His Beatitude John X appointed Metropolitan Silouan of Buenos Aires and all Argentina as the Patriarchal Vicar, and The Most Rev. Archbishop Joseph of the Diocese of Los Angeles and the West as the Locum Tenens of the Archdiocese. Both served until the Holy Synod of Antioch, meeting in Balamand, Lebanon on Thursday, July 3, 2014, elected Archbishop Joseph to be Metropolitan of all North America.
