St. Gregorios Orthodox Church of Queens, NY Consecrated

St. Gregorios Orthodox Church of Queens, NY was filled with members of the parish community, faithful from sister parishes, seminarians, deacons, priests and Hierarchs as the first part of the consecration service was completed.  His Beatitude Paulose Mar Milithios, Catholicos Designate led the first part of the Rite of Consecration in the presence of His Grace Mathews Mar Barnabas, Diocesan Metropolitan.  Their Graces Zachariah Mar Nicholovos, Dr. Mathews Mar Severios, and Alexios Mar Eusebius assisted in ancient liturgical rites on Friday, June 26 & Saturday June 27, 2010.

Following the first part of the consecration service, the Hierarchs inaugurated the shrine dedicated the His Grace Dr. Thomas Mar Makarios of blessed memory.  This shrine included His Grace's vestments and a portrait of the first Metropolitan of the American Diocese.  Afterwards, His Beatitude inaugurated the parish hall of the newly renovated parish which is named the 'Mar Makarios Memorial Parish Hall'.

Saturday morning liturgical rites were led by His Beatitude, assisted by the other Hierarchs.  His Grace Dr. Mathews Mar Severios celebrated Holy Qurbana following the 'Hykala Koodhasha' or consecration of the nave.  Following Holy Qurbana, there was a public meeting marking the historic renovation of the St. Gregorios Orthodox Church of Queens, NY.  A souvenir was released on the occassion as well.  Very Rev. Yesudasan Pappan Chor Episcopos offered his thanks and appreciation to all those who participated in the consecration services.
