His Grace Zachariah Mar Nicholovos Guest of Metropolitan Tikhon
Upon the invitation of His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon, His Grace Zachariah Mar Nicholovos, Metropolitan visited the Chancery of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA) in Syosset, New York on Wednesday, May 18, 2016.
His Grace Mar Nicholovos, was welcomed to the OCA Chancery by Metropolitan Tikhon, the Primate of the Orthodox Church in America, Archpriest Chad Hatfield, Chancellor of St. Vladimir's Seminary, and OCA's Officers -- Archpriest John Jillions, OCA Chancellor; Archpriest Eric G. Tosi, Secretary; Melanie Ringa, Treasurer; Protopresbyter Leonid Kishkovsky, Director of External Affairs; and Subdeacon Roman Ostash, assistant to the Metropolitan.
After formal greetings, a brief prayer of thanksgiving was offered in Saint Sergius of Radonezh Chapel, followed by a tour of the Chancery. During the tour, Metropolitan Tikhon shared of important events and persons who helped shape the Orthodox Church in America.
Engaging dialogue and discussions occurred during lunch, related to the strong relationship between the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church and the Orthodox Church in America, especially in the realm of theological education. Metropolitan Tikhon spoke fondly of his fraternal visit to Malankara in November 2015 as well.
His Beatitude, Metropolitan Tikhon gifted His Grace with a beautiful Panagia, commenting on the fraternity that exists between both hierarchs as neighbors, and being able to work together on the Board of Trustees at St. Vladimir's Seminary. His Grace Zachariah Mar Nicholovos conveyed the greetings of His Holiness the Catholicos of the East, to His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon.
His Grace Zachariah Mar Nicholovos, was accompanied by Reverend Father Abraham (Abey) George, principal secretary to the Metropolitan, and Reverend Father Timothy (Tenny) Thomas.
