Holy Cross Indian Orthodox Mission Parish Participates in NYC CROP Hunger Walk

The dreary weather did not stop the Holy Cross Mission Parish from representing the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church in the 10th Annual CROP Hunger Walk in Manhattan on Sunday, April 25, 2010. The CROP Hunger Walk is an initiative supported by Church World Services to bring awareness and raise funds for hunger relief locally and around the world.

The Holy Cross team had 11 walkers from the NY/NJ area participate in the walk and raised $1670 to help provide hunger relief to those in need. The walk started on the Upper East Side at the Church of the Heavenly Rest and ended at Broadway Presbyterian Church on the Upper West Side. It was a great opportunity for many of us to meet new people within our own community as well as other Christian communities within NYC.

Online donations for this year’s CROP Walk will be accepted through July 31, 2010. Please continue to support the efforts of Holy Cross by providing a donation through their team page: http://www.churchworldservice.org/site/TR/2010SpringCROPHungerWalk/General?team_id=39320&pg=team&fr_id=4901
