Falling Asleep of Very Reverend C. M. John Chor Episcopos

With faith in Christ and in the hope of resurrection, we inform you of the passing away of Very Reverend C. M. John Chor Episcopos.

Achen was a senior priest of our Diocese, who was dearly loved by clergy and faithful alike. From the 1980s onwards, he was instrumental in strengthening parishes in the tri-state area. Since his retirement from active pastoral ministry, Achen remained attached to Saint Mary's Orthodox Church Linden, New Jersey, where he served as the founding Vicar in 1989.

The following is the schedule for the wake and burial services of our beloved Very Reverend C. M. John Chor Episcopos

All services, unless otherwise indicated, will be held at St. Mary's Orthodox Church of Linden, New Jersey (located at 45 E Elm Street, Linden, New Jersey)

  • Friday, November 30th, 2018 : 3PM to 8PM - Viewing
  • Saturday, December 1st, 2018 : 8:30AM to 11AM - Rite of Burial for Priests

Burial to be held at Grace Land Memorial Park Cemetery, located at 1900 Galloping Hill Road, Kenilworth, New Jersey.

As our Diocesan Metropolitan, His Grace Zachariah Mar Nicholovos is representing the Department of Ecumenical Relations of the Malankara Church at meetings for the World Council of Churches, at the request of our Metropolitan, His Grace Dr. Zacharias Mar Aprem, Assistant Metropolitan of the Diocese of South-West America will preside of the Burial Services of our dear Achen.

Let us keep our departed Achen in our prayers, especially the grieving family.

May the memory of Very Reverend C. M. John Chor Episcopos, be eternal!
