Park Hill (New York): On Sunday, March 5, 2023, the Family and Youth Conference Team visited the St. Gregorios Orthodox Church, Yonkers, NY. There was a brief kick off meeting for the Family and Youth Conference after Holy Qurbana.
The Vicar Rev. Fr. Ninan Easo welcomed the Conference team and gave an exceptional introduction about Family and youth Conference. Saji M. Pothen (Finance Manager) introduced the conference team that included Mathew Joshua (Conference Treasurer) and Bijo Thomas (Diocesan Council Member). Saji M. Pothen also gave general information about the conference. Mathew Joshua explained the registration to the conference. Bijo Thomas gave details about the souvenir being published at the Conference and about the opportunities for sponsorship.
Saji M. Pothen acknowledged the presence of several key members and invited them to the dais. They include Shajan George (Parish Trustee), Jinu Mathews (Joint Secretary), Manasse Olickel (Joint Trustee), Roy Ennacheril (former managing committee member), Sajan Mathew (Malankara association member/Former council member), Varghese Mampallil ( Malankara association member ) , Georgekutty Pottachira & Kurian Palliankal, (Diocesan Assembly members), Cheriyan Pooppallil (former council member), Mary Ennacheril ( former MMVS treasurer/ Divya bodhanam coordinator.) All of these have pledged advertisements or compliments to support the ministry of the Family & Youth Conference.
On behalf of the parish, a sponsorship check to insert compliments in the souvenir was handed over to the Coordinators. In addition, support with a donation, advertisements or compliments were pledged by Mathew KM and George Zachariah, Jacob Chacko, Thomas Poykayal, Mathew Puthen Veetil, Sajan Mathew and Lizy Moncy.
The Conference will be held from July 12 to 15, 2023 at the Holy Transfiguration Retreat Center (HTRC). His Grace Dr. Abraham Mar Stephanos, the Metropolitan of the Diocese of Europe and Africa will be the key-note speaker. Rev. Fr. Mat Alexander, the Youth Minister of Dallas, Texas of the Diocese of the Southwest America will lead the sessions for the youth. The theme for the conference this year is “I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh” from Joel 2:28.
