It is with a deep sense of grief, and also great anger we learn about the unfortunate shootings in El Paso, Texas and in Dayton, Ohio. Many innocent lives were taken from us, leaving others injured, and millions heart broken.
We condemn such acts of violence and hatred, which go against Christ’s call to love our neighbor. It is also with a great sense of pain that we look at the silence of our leaders. We find solace in their prayers and comforting words, but hope to also find corrective measures are put in place to ensure such violence is not repeated. One too many lives have been lost, too many widows and widowers left in shock, too many children who have lost their parent to senseless violence.
The clergy and faithful of the Northeast American Diocese express our sympathy and solidarity to the communities of El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio, and to all of our fellow citizens who are struck with grief, once again.
