Lancaster, Pennsylvania — The Northeast American Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church joyfully concluded its annual Family & Youth Conference, held from Wednesday, July 15, through Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the Wyndham Resort & Convention Center in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Centered on the theme "Vessels of Grace" (2 Timothy 2:20–22), the conference brought together 450 clergy, families, young adults, youth, and children from throughout the Diocese for four days of worship, renewal, and fellowship.
The conference commenced on Wednesday evening with a festive procession and Vespers. Throughout the conference, participants were invited to reflect upon the Apostle Paul's exhortation to become "vessels for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work" (2 Timothy 2:21). Through worship, informative super sessions, interactive discussions, and fellowship, attendees were encouraged to deepen their relationship with Christ and faithfully live out their Orthodox Christian vocation within their families, parishes, and communities. The conference concluded on Saturday morning with the celebration of the Holy Divine Liturgy, by His Grace Dr. Thomas Mar Athanasius, Metropolitan.
This year's conference featured an exceptional panel of keynote speakers who addressed the conference theme from theological, pastoral, monastic, and practical perspectives. Participants benefited from the inspiring presentations of His Grace Dr. Thomas Mar Athanasius, Metropolitan of the Kandanad East Diocese; Hieromonk Vasileios, Abbot of St. Dionysius Monastery; Rev. Fr. Dr. Abey George, Vicar of St. Thomas Orthodox Church, Long Island; and Mrs. Lijin Thomas of the Diocese of South-West America. Their thoughtful and engaging sessions challenged attendees to pursue holiness, cultivate lives rooted in prayer and virtue, and become faithful witnesses of Christ in the modern world.
Alongside the keynote presentations, the conference offered a rich schedule of worship services, youth and children's programming, family-focused workshops, fellowship activities, and opportunities for meaningful interaction among the faithful. The gathering fostered spiritual growth while strengthening the bonds of unity that continue to characterize the Northeast American Diocese.
The Diocese expresses its sincere gratitude to the 2026 Family & Youth Conference Committee, whose months of dedicated planning and faithful service made the conference possible. Special appreciation is extended to Rev. Fr. Alex K. Joy, Conference Coordinator; Mr. Jaison Thomas, General Secretary; and Mr. John Thamaravelil, General Treasurer, for their exemplary leadership. The Diocese also gratefully acknowledges the tireless efforts of every committee member, clergy, volunteers, parish leaders, youth leaders, sponsors, and participants whose generosity and commitment contributed to the overwhelming success of this year's conference.
