Metropolitan expresses solidarity with the People of Syria

We stand in solidarity with the people of Syria, who have endured unimaginable suffering due to the ongoing conflict in their homeland.  The images of suffering, and hardship are a powerful reminder of the urgency of our Christian call to love our neighbors as ourselves (Matthew 22:39).  The crisis in Syria has led to political unrest, and the loss of hope for many. Yet, we are called not to despair, but to be agents of reconciliation, healing, and hope in the midst of such difficulty.  We call on all governments, and international bodies to prioritize peace and stability for this region.

As Christians, we are reminded that God is a God of peace, and that through His grace, peace and restoration are possible. We are encouraged to pray for the peace of Syria, and to support efforts that provide humanitarian aid to those suffering.  Let us especially pray for the several Patriarchates of Antioch based out of Syria, who are enduring through this difficult time of transition.

We pray that God will bring healing to the people of Syria, and that His peace, which transcends all understanding, will reign in the hearts of all people. May we, as Christians, be instruments of His peace, and stand firm in our commitment to justice for all.
