New York, NY — Metropolitan Zachariah Mar Nicholovos, Metropolitan of the Northeast American Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, participated in an ecumenical luncheon hosted by His Eminence Timothy Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York, in honor of the Feast of St. Andrew the First-Called Apostle. The gathering took place at the Residence of the Cardinal in New York City.

The leaders of the respective jurisdictions reflected upon the historic and fraternal relationship between the Roman Catholic Church and the Orthodox Churches.  It was a warm occasion that brought together hierarchs and representatives from various Christian traditions who remain committed to strengthening bonds of unity, dialogue, and shared witness.

Among the distinguished attendees were:

  • His Grace Bishop Mesrop Parsamyan, Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church of America

  • His Eminence Archbishop Michael, Orthodox Church in America, Diocese of New York & New Jersey

  • His Grace Bishop Irinej, Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Eastern America

  • His Excellency Bishop James Massa, Auxiliary Bishop of Brooklyn & Rector of St. Joseph’s Seminary, Dunwoodie

The luncheon concluded with a solemn time of prayer in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, led by Cardinal Dolan, offering intercessions for Christian unity and for the continued collaboration among churches in the region. Following the prayer service, guests were given a tour of the Cathedral, including recent additions and enhancements that continue to preserve and beautify this historic landmark.

Metropolitan Nicholovos expressed his gratitude for the invitation and hospitality of Cardinal Dolan, noting: “Encounters such as these deepen our bonds as brothers in Christ. May our fellowship strengthen our shared commitment to witness, service, and unity.”
