Ministry Leaders Gather for Strategic Planning and Collaboration Across the Diocese

On Friday, June 5, 2026, leaders representing the various ministries of the Northeast American Diocese  gathered for a day of prayer, reflection, and strategic planning.

Under the leadership of Metropolitan Zachariah Mar Nicholovos, representatives from the Diocese's diverse ministries, along with members of the Diocesan Council, met at St. Stephen's Orthodox Church of Midland Park, New Jersey, to prayerfully assess the current state of ministry life throughout the Diocese and to explore opportunities for future growth and service.  The meeting had meaningful discussion and collaboration, where participants engaged in a comprehensive review of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and challenges facing each ministry.

Ministry leaders shared updates on the work currently being undertaken across the Diocese, highlighting the many ways in which clergy and lay volunteers are serving the faithful. Particular attention was given to areas of inter-ministry collaboration, recognizing that many of the spiritual, educational, pastoral, and charitable initiatives of the Diocese are most effective when ministries work together toward a common mission.

Discussions also focused on identifying new avenues through which diocesan ministries can further strengthen parish life, support families, engage youth and young adults, care for the elderly and vulnerable, and foster deeper spiritual growth among the faithful. Participants explored practical strategies to enhance communication, increase participation, develop future leaders, and expand opportunities for service and discipleship throughout the Diocese.

In his remarks, Metropolitan Nicholovos emphasized the importance of maintaining a ministry-centered vision for the Diocese, encouraging leaders to remain attentive to the evolving needs of the faithful while remaining rooted in the life and teachings of the Church.

“The strength of our Diocese is found in the dedicated clergy and faithful who continually offer themselves in service to Christ and His Church,” said Thirumeni. “As we prayerfully evaluate our ministries and plan for the future, our goal is not merely to sustain programs, but to cultivate opportunities that lead our people into a deeper relationship with God and a fuller participation in the life of the Church.”

The gathering concluded with a renewed commitment among ministry leaders to continue working collaboratively, sharing resources and expertise, and developing initiatives that will further enrich the spiritual lives of the faithful across the Diocese.

Our Diocesan Metropolitan, along with the Diocesan Council expressed its deep gratitude to all ministry leaders, clergy, and volunteers whose dedication and sacrificial service continue to strengthen the ministries of the Diocese and advance the mission of proclaiming the Gospel throughout the parishes of our vast Diocese.
