SVS Seminary Press Publishes Book by Diocesan Priest

St. Vladimir's Seminary Press, a renowned and respected theological printing house in Christianity today, has recently published a book by the Reverend Father Dr. George Koshy. The scholarly work entitled: 'The Wedding in Cana: The Power and Purpose of the First Sign of Jesus Christ,' marks the first time SVS Seminary Press has published a theological work by an author of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. Father George, the Vicar to Saint George Orthodox Church of Westchester, New York, has written many books and articles which have benefited the clergy and faithful of the Orthodox Church.

His Grace, Zachariah Mar Nicholovos, Metropolitan of the Northeast American Diocese, and member of the Board of Trustees of St. Vladimir's Seminary shared of his great joy over the recent publication. "This shows SVS Seminary Press' commitment to the publishing of fine theological work by authors of both Oriental and Eastern Orthodox Churches. We are proud of Father George's achievement, and his active contribution to the world of theological learning."

The Very Rev. Dr. John Behr, The Father Georges Florovsky Distinguished Professor of Patristics offers a blurb on Father George's recently published book: “In the present volume, Fr George focuses his attention on the Gospel of John, and specifically the marriage feast in Cana. This episode, at the beginning of the Gospel, offers a unique and important lens that brings into focus many themes that occur throughout the Gospel, climaxing in the Passion: ‘the first of his signs’ manifesting his ‘glory,’ ‘the third day,’ ‘the hour,’ the ‘woman,’ the changing of water into wine, the best wine, and, of course, the marriage itself. Fr George offers us twelve meditations on different aspects of this episode, bringing to bear insight drawn from the Scriptures, the Fathers, Liturgy and its hymnography, modern theologians and scriptural scholars.”
